This is a reality.  As one retired Judge put it so eloquently, ‘there is something that happens when people put things in writing to be filed away in the records for ever’. They cannot take the words back, and relationships are destroyed.

If you or someone you care about is in the traditional system of divorce, caution them to be careful about the statements they swear in an affidavit. Our system uses them too loosely, without consideration of the long-term consequences. Do not make the mistake of falling into this trap.
